Teri Moten, owner of Moten Financial Services, has been a member of VPEN for 2 years. Teri serves as the Chair of Administration and will be the incoming VP of Administration. Other community organizational boards which Teri serves on are the Golden Crescent Black Chamber of Commerce, La Camara de Comercio (Victoria Hispanic Chamber of Commerce) , Victoria Area Homeless Coalition, and the Community Health Clinics of South Central Texas. In addition, Teri is a minister at The Joy of the Lord Worship Center and is dedicated to serving the Lord and witnessing to others about the Good News of Jesus. Originally from Goliad, TX, Teri received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994 and Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston-Victoria in 1996. She grew up working in the family business, McMillan’s BBQ in Fannin, and then transitioned into a career in retail furniture management. After several years, she changed industries and became a highly decorated Financial Advisor and Insurance professional with American Express Financial Advisors and AIG. Teri then entered into the healthcare sales arena with one of the top 5 Pharmaceutical companies in the world. Now, she has coupled her 20 years of experience into her own financial services and business consulting firm, Moten Financial Services where she helps individuals, families, and business owners be educated and protected against identity theft and various legal issues that arise in life. Teri also helps individuals with health conditions such as cancer, recent heart attacks and strokes, diabetes, etc be able to qualify for affordable life insurance.
The most treasured part of Teri’s life is her family: husband of 12 years, Dr. David P Moten, who is the Paster of the Joy of the Lord Worship Center, business partner in Moten Financial Services, and soulmate God designed specifically for Teri. Their 11 year old daughter, Ayanna, who is at the top of her class academically and has excelled in martial arts for the past 6 years, and will be a 7th grader at Faith Academy. Ayanna is the light of Teri’s life and she loves the ladies in ABWA since she has been attending meetings with her mom over the past few months. Teri’s mission in life is to make meaningful impact in the lives of those she comes in contact with and the quote she lives by is Psalm 89:11 “No good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.” It is an honor and privilege for Teri to be named VPEN’s Woman of the Year and she is excited to serve VPEN, her community, and be a role model too.
